PORTFOLIO
We've been busy developing novel formulations for some of the best Portuguese traditional pastries. By employing a scientific methodology, we are able to integrate alternative and healthier ingredients without significantly altering properties such as taste, texture and smell.
We combine tradition and innovation in the sweetest way!
BOLINHOL (Traditional pastry from Portugal)
TRADITIONAL BOLINHOL
Bolinhol is a very unique sponge cake from Vizela, Portugal. It is covered in a crispy sugar frosting which adds a layer of sweetness and keeps the interior "humid".
BOLINHOL + OAK ACORN
Similar taste, texture and smell to the traditional bolinhol but with oak acorn flour integrated into its composition. Acorns are a great source of fiber. Additionally, acorns have long been used as an herbal remedy to treat stomach pain, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and other common digestive complications.
BOLINHOL + SPIRULINA
Similar taste, texture and smell to the traditional bolinhol but with spirulina integrated into its composition. Spirulina is a blue-green algae which possesses a high content in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants. Spirulina is considered a superfood.
PASTEL DE NATA (Traditional pastry from Portugal)
TRADITIONAL NATA
Pastel de nata or Pastel de Belém is a Portuguese egg custard tart pastry, optionally dusted with cinnamon. Outside Portugal, they are particularly popular in other parts of Western Europe, Asia and former Portuguese colonies
NATA + AÇAÍ
Similar taste, texture and smell to the traditional pastel de nata but with a special cream containing açaí. Açaí is known for being nutrient dense, for its antioxidant properties and its high content in fiber and omega vitamins. Preliminary studies have shown that it might reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels in people who are overweight.
NATA + SPIRULINA
Similar taste, texture and smell to tthe traditional pastel de nata but with a special cream containing spirulina. Spirulina is a blue-green algae which possesses a high content in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants. Spirulina is considered a superfood.
BOLA DE BERLIM (Traditional pastry from Portugal)
TRADITIONAL BOLA
Bolas de Berlim are similar to doughnuts but with no hole in the centre. Made from sweet-fried dough, and traditionally filled with an egg-yolk-based cream. Regular sugar is also sprinkled on top for maximum sweetness.
